Indian Head Massage includes massage of the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, scalp and face, focusing mainly on the face and scalp.
You will be asked to remove anything that may obstruct the massage like glasses, earrings, or necklaces. Hair should be loose and not highly styled, any hair accessories will also need to be removed as the head and face massage make up the main part of this very popular treatment.
During the treatment, you will be asked to sit in an ergonomically designed and very comfortable massage chair whilst I carry out the treatment.
The treatment starts with me placing my hands gently on the crown of your head, breathing deeply to release tension. Once you are relaxed, I move down onto your shoulders and use a variety of massage movements to relieve accumulated tension, stimulate circulation and restore joint movement, working over the muscles and pressure points to help the muscles to relax.
I then move on to a wonderful soothing face massage, which includes pressure points and draining techniques, applying gentle pressure to the accupressure points on the face to ensure total relaxation. Moving on to the scalp, I use massage techniques which relax, stimulate and revive this area. The whole scalp is covered to encourage circulation, oxygen and nutrients to the area. The effect of this is to help stimulate hair growth and revitalize the brain.
The Indian Head massage treatment can be performed with or without oils. If you elect not to have the massage using oils, there is no need to remove clothing. Indian Head massage can easily be applied over a shirt or t-shirt making it ideal for people who are shy or nervous or for the less able bodied i.e. elderly, arthritic or disabled.
If you choose the use of oils during your treatment session to aid the massage, you will be asked to expose your upper back from just beneath the shoulder blades; a towel will be supplied to wrap around your chest area.
Indian Head massage can be performed almost anywhere and less time is needed than for full body massage treatments. You can have gentle music playing in the background if you wish, to help you to relax.
